“a poem” is a compilation of pictures i took between 2016 and 2019. it was my first three years of owning a smart phone and also the time when i slowly lost my practice of writing poetry. i used words in poems before to knit images together to communicate a certain feeling or meaning. a smart phone - a camera always in hand - enabled me to capture images from the real world and curate them. bit by bit, it seemed as if the pictures replaced my words. the zine is an ode to that point in time… i still hope to return to writing poetry because i feel that my over-reliance on pictures is blinding my mind’s eye.
